Being a Vocal Local is all about taking an interest in your community, having your say as a resident and taking part in decisions that affect you. It's about ordinary people making things happen and making a difference.
There are dozens of different ways you can be a Vocal Local, depending on what interests you, how much time you have and how much or little you want to get involved.
You can keep it small and local by getting together with your neighbours to work together on a particular issue, or joining a community group. If you are interested in giving feedback to public bodies like the council, the NHS and the Police about their services you can have your say by responding to consultations, filling in questionnaires or joining a consultation group. If you have a burning issue and want to take action to change something you can start a campaign, run a petition, contact your councillor or MP and lobby agencies to change or improve services. Or you can volunteer to become a school governor or even a councillor.
Whatever you choose you will end up making a difference... so go on, be a vocal local. Follow the links on the right and see how you can get involved.
